Installing the engine on the assembly stand
Attention:
It is strictly forbidden to apply any pressure to the engine oil pan. Damage to the pan can also cause various damages to the engine itself due to:
- blocking the oil intake;
- increasing the engine oil level above the maximum mark, which may cause the engine to run away.
Note: Remove the power unit assembly (engine with gearbox) from the vehicle and disconnect the gearbox from the engine (see chapter "Transmission").
First installation method
1. Insert the mounting rods (1) into the cylinder block.
2. Install the mounting plate (Mot. 1723) onto the mounting rods, aligning them with holes 5, 6, 9 and 14.
Second installation method
1. Remove the accessory drive belt.
2. Install the fixing device (Mot. 582-01) (3) on the flywheel.
3. Remove the crankshaft pulley.
4. Remove the clutch discs.
5. Remove the flywheel with the locking device (Mot. 582-01).
6. Install the mounting rods into the cylinder block.
7. Install the retaining brackets (4) onto the support pins.
8. Raise the engine with a garage winch, placing it opposite the engine assembly stand.
9. Fix the support pins on the engine assembly stand
10. Tighten the mounting bolt (5) to a torque of 120 Nm to prevent the engine from turning over.
11. Install stops to ensure that the assembly stand remains stationary.
12. Unhook the garage winch from the engine.
