2. If a new cylinder head is used, install the lifting eye on the flywheel side of the cylinder head and tighten the mounting bolts to a torque of 12 N·m.
Caution: Always replace the valve stem seals with new ones after each removal.
3. Install the valve stem seals:
Attention:
- Make sure the valves are seated correctly in their seats. If the valves are not seated correctly, the engine may be damaged.
- Apply engine oil to the inside of the valve guides.
Note: It is very important to use the valve stem seal installer tool to install the valve stem seals (Mot. 1511-01).
- Insert the valve into the cylinder head.

- Install the protective device (11) on the valve stem.

Note: The inside diameter of the protector must match the diameter of the valve stem.
Caution: Do not lubricate the valve stem seals.
- While holding the valve against the seat, install the valve stem seal onto the guard on the valve stem, then push the valve stem seal through the guard.

- Remove the protective device from the valve stem.

- Install the guide tube with the bushing assembly onto the oil deflector cap.

- Press on the oil deflector cap by gently tapping the sleeve with your palm until the guide tube rests against the cylinder head.
- Repeat the procedure for installing the oil seals for the remaining valves.
4. Install the valve spring with the narrowed part (12) facing up and the valve plate (13).

5. Compress the valve spring with a special tool (Mot. 1502), as when removing the valve.

6. Insert the crackers with tweezers.

7. Release the valve spring and remove the valve spring compressor from the cylinder head.
8. Install the crackers for the remaining valves in the same manner.
9. Install the valve tappets in their places, using the marks made during removal, and lubricate the edges of the tappets with oil.

10. Install the camshaft (see below).
Note: When replacing valves, lifters or camshaft, it is important to check and adjust the valve clearances. If the valve clearances are not adjusted correctly, engine damage may occur.
11. Install the front camshaft oil seal (see below).
12. Install the exhaust manifold.
13. Install the exhaust gas recirculation system components.
14. Install the exhaust gas temperature sensor.
15. Install the cooling system chamber.
16. Install the vacuum pump.
17. Install the glow plugs (see chapter "Engine electrical equipment").
18. Install the fuel rail (see chapter "Power supply system").
19. Install the high-pressure fuel pump (see chapter "Power supply system").
20. Install high-pressure fuel lines between the fuel pump and the fuel rail (see chapter "Power supply system").
21. Install the fuel rail guard and tighten the fastening nuts to a torque of 10 Nm.
22. Remove the cylinder head from the stand and install it on the engine.
