2. If a new cylinder head is used, install the lifting eye on the flywheel side of the cylinder head and tighten the fixing bolts to 12 Nm.
Attention: Be sure to replace the valve stem seals with new ones after each removal.
3. Install valve stem seals:
Attention:
- Make sure the valves are properly seated in their seats. If the valves are not properly seated, the engine may be damaged.
- Apply engine oil to the inside of the valve guides.
Note: It is very important to use the valve stem seal tool to install the valve stem seals (Mot. 1511-01).
- Insert the valve into the cylinder head.
- Install protective device (11) on the valve stem.
Note: The inside diameter of the guard must match the diameter of the valve stem.
Attention: Do not lubricate oil seals.
- While holding the valve against the seat, install the flinger cap onto the guard on the valve stem, and then push the flinger cap through the guard.
- Remove the guard from the valve stem.
- Install the guide tube with bushing assembly on the oil seal.
- Press on the valve stem seal by gently tapping the sleeve with the palm of your hand until the guide tube rests against the cylinder head.
- Repeat the procedure for installing the oil seals for the remaining valves.
4. Install the valve spring with the narrowed part (12) up and valve disc (13).
5. Compress the valve spring with a special tool (Mot. 1502), same as when removing the valve.
6. Insert crackers with tweezers.
7. Decompress the valve spring and remove the valve spring compressor from the cylinder head.
8. Install the other valve cotters in the same way.
9. Install the valve lifters in their places, using the marks made during removal, and lubricate with oil along the edges of the pushers.
10. Install the camshaft (see below).
Note: When replacing valves, tappets or camshaft, it is important to check and adjust the valve clearances. If the valve clearances are not adjusted correctly, the engine may be damaged.
11. Install the front camshaft oil seal (see below).
12. Install the exhaust manifold.
13. Install the components of the exhaust gas recirculation system.
14. Install the exhaust gas temperature sensor.
15. Install the cooling chamber.
16. Install the vacuum pump.
17. Install glow plugs (see chapter "Engine electrical equipment").
18. Install the fuel rail (see chapter "Supply system").
19. Install high pressure fuel pump (see chapter "Supply system").
20. Install high pressure fuel lines between fuel pump and fuel rail (see chapter "Supply system").
21. Install the fuel rail protection and tighten the fixing nuts to 10 Nm.
22. Remove the cylinder head from the stand and install on the engine.
