Caution: Prepare a suitable drip tray to collect the escaping liquid and take measures to protect the surrounding components.
Removing the rear suspension beam
1. Release the parking brake.
2. Place the vehicle on a two post lift.
3. Remove the rear wheels from the vehicle.
4. Remove rear axle protection.
5. Install a spacer on the brake pedal to limit the leakage of brake fluid
6. Disconnect the brake hoses from the brake lines (1).
7. Remove the rear brake drums (see chapter "Brake system").
8. Remove the parking brake cables (3) from the brake levers with pliers and a screwdriver.
9. Unhook the parking brake cables from the base plate (4) and from the rear axle beam.
10. Unhook the wheel speed sensors from the rear axle beam.
11. Loosen nuts (5) rear suspension rubber bushing on both sides of the vehicle.
12.Place jacks under rear suspension arms.
13. Loosen the bottom bolts (6) (on both sides of the car) and, lowering the jacks, remove the rear suspension springs.
14. Support the rear axle beam with a jack.
15. Tie the rear axle beam to the jack with safety straps.
16. Loosen the bolts (7) rear suspension arm support to the body.
17. Remove the rear suspension assembly from the vehicle.
18. Remove the rear suspension spring supports.
19. Remove the brake pipes from the rear axle beam.
20. Remove wheel pins
21. Remove the rear suspension rubber bushings.
Installing the rear suspension beam
1. Install the rear suspension rubber bushings without tightening the bolts.
2. Install the wheel pins.
3. Install the brake pipes on the rear suspension beam
4. Install the rear suspension spring supports.
5. Install the rear suspension beam on the jack.
6. Tie the rear axle beam to the jack with safety straps.
7. Using a jack, raise and install the rear suspension beam on the car.
8. Tighten the bolts securing the rear suspension arm support to the body.
9. Install the rear suspension springs.
10. Install the lower rear shock absorber bolts.
11. Install the parking brake cables.
12. Install the rear brake drums (see chapter "Brake system").
13. Connect the brake hoses to the brake lines.
14. Install wheel speed sensors.
15. Install the rear wheels.
16. Lower the car on wheels.
17. Tighten the lower bolts of the rear shock absorbers to 105 Nm.
18. Tighten the bolts of the rear suspension rubber bushings to 120 Nm.
19. Remove the spacer from the brake pedal.
20. Bleed the brake system (see chapter "Brake system").
21. Check and, if necessary, adjust the wheel alignment.
