Fig. 6.68. Brake disc thickness measurement points

Measure the thickness of the brake disc in order at four points shown in Figure 6.68, around the circumference (at 90° intervals).

Standard thickness of front brake discs: 22 mm (cars with K4J engine) and 24 mm (cars with engines K4M, F4R).

If the thickness is less than specified, replace the discs.

Remove the brake shoe guide.

Examination

Check the inner cylinder walls for corrosion, wear and damage. Replace the cylinder body if necessary. Minor defects caused by corrosion or foreign particles can be removed by sanding the surface with fine emery cloth. Check the piston surface, guide pin and its boot, and brake disc surface for corrosion, wear and damage. Replace the relevant component if necessary.

Installation

Clean the shoe guides and brackets.

Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

Tighten to the specified torque:
  • brake disc mounting screws (15 Nm);
  • shoe guide mounting bolts (105 Nm).

Before installation, apply FRENEBLOC to the threads of the shoe guide mounting bolts (or its equivalent).

Install the wheels.

Tighten the wheel mounting bolts to the specified torque of 105 N·m.
