Removing the water pump inlet
1. Place the vehicle on a two post lift.
2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
3. Unscrew the fastening bolts and remove the engine protective tray.
4. Drain the coolant from the engine cooling system.
5. With hose clamp pliers (Mot. 1448) put aside the clamp (1) water pump inlet pipe.
6. Disconnect the hose from the water pump inlet.
7. Loosen the bolt (2) water pump inlet pipe.
8. Remove the water pump inlet (3) with seal.
Installing the water pump inlet
Note: Be sure to replace the seal between the inlet pipe and the water pump inlet port with a new one.
1. Use a cleaning agent to clean and degrease the seal housing on the water pump inlet if it is being reused, and the seal housing on the water pump inlet port.
Attention: To ensure the required tightness, the sealing surfaces must be clean, dry and free from grease (avoid any fingerprints).
2. Install a new seal on the water pump inlet.
3. Install the water pump inlet.
4. Tighten the water pump inlet pipe bolt to 12 Nm.
5. Connect a hose to the water pump inlet.
6. Install the clamp on the inlet hose of the water pump using special pliers (Mot. I448).
7. Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
8. Fill and bleed the engine cooling system.
K7M engine
Removing the water pump inlet
1. Place the vehicle on a pedestal lift.
2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
3. Loosen the mounting bolts and remove the engine protective tray.
4. Remove the intake duct.
5. Remove the oxygen sensors.
6. Remove the front bumper from the car.
7. Drain the coolant from the engine cooling system.
8. Loosen the nuts (1) and remove the heat shield.
9. Disconnect the cooling system hoses from the water pump inlet.
10. Remove the water pump inlet with seal.
Installing the water pump inlet
Note: Be sure to replace the seal between the inlet pipe and the water pump inlet port with a new one.
Attention:
- The sealing surfaces must be clean, dry and free from grease to ensure the required tightness (avoid any fingerprints).
- Do not scratch the connecting aluminum surfaces, any damage to the contact surfaces may cause leakage.
Use a cleaning agent to clean and degrease the seal housing on the water pump inlet, if reused, and the seal housing on the water pump inlet.
Installation is made in an order, the return to removal.
Fill and bleed the cooling system.
K4M engine
Removing the water pump inlet
1. Put the car on a two-foot lift.
2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
3. Loosen the nuts (1) and remove the fuel rail cover (2).
4. Drain the coolant from the engine cooling system.
5. Disconnect the lower radiator hose (3).
6. Disconnect the heater hose (4).
7. Unhook the wiring from the holder - on the inlet pipe of the water pump.
8. Loosen the bolt (10) and remove the water pump inlet pipe with gasket.
Installing the water pump inlet
Note: Be sure to replace the seal between the inlet pipe and the water pump inlet port with a new one.
Installation is made in an order, the return to removal.
Note: Water pump inlet bolt torque: 22 Nm.
Fill and bleed the engine cooling system.
K9K engine
Removing the water pump inlet
1. Place the vehicle on a two post lift.
2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
3. Unscrew the fastening bolts and remove the engine protective tray.
4. Remove the front bumper from the car.
5. To remove an output branch pipe of an intercooler of air.
6. Drain the coolant from the cooling system.
7. Remove the oil cooler from the engine.
8. Disconnect the cooling system hoses from the water pump inlet.
9. Remove the water pump inlet with gasket.
Installing the water pump inlet
Attention:
- The sealing surfaces must be clean, dry and free from grease to ensure the required tightness (avoid any fingerprints).
- Do not scratch the connecting aluminum surfaces, any damage to the contact surfaces may cause leakage.
Use a cleaning agent to clean and degrease the seal housing on the water pump inlet, if reused, and the seal housing on the water pump inlet.
Installation is made in an order, the return to removal.
Fill and bleed the cooling system.
