Removing the thermostat
1. Place the vehicle on a two post lift.
2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
3. Unscrew the fastening bolts and remove the engine protective tray.
4. Remove the air filter unit.
5. Drain the coolant from the engine cooling system.
6. Remove the water chamber.
7. Press the spring clip (1).
8. Turn the spring clip (2).
9. Remove thermostat (3).
Installing a thermostat
Note: Be sure to replace the thermostat gasket with a new one after each removal.
Attention: To ensure the required tightness, the sealing surfaces must be clean, dry and free from grease (avoid any fingerprints).
1. Install the thermostat with a new gasket.
2. Branch the spring and spring fixation mountains.
3. Push in the spring clip and turn.
4. Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
5. Fill and bleed the cooling system.
K7M and K4M engines
Removing the thermostat
1. Place the vehicle on a two post lift.
2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
3. Unscrew the fastening bolts and remove the engine protective tray.
4. Drain the coolant from the engine cooling system.
5. Using special hose clamp pliers (Mot. 1448) or (Mot. 1202-02) remove the clamp (1) upper radiator hose and clamp (2) expansion tank hose.
6. Disconnect the hoses from the thermostat cover.
7. Loosen the bolts (3) and remove the thermostat cover.
8. Remove thermostat (4) with seal (5).
Installing a thermostat
1. Use a cleaning agent to clean and degrease the thermostat housing.
Note: Be sure to replace the thermostat gasket with a new one after each removal.
2. Install a new gasket on the thermostat.
3. Install thermostat.
4. Install the thermostat cover.
5. Connect the upper radiator hose and expansion tank hose to the thermostat cover.
6. Using special hose clamp pliers (Mot. 1448) or (Mot. 1202-02) install clamps.
7. Fill and bleed the engine cooling system.
8. Install the engine protection tray.
K9K engine
The thermostat is inseparable from the water chamber. To replace it, you need to replace the water chamber.
