Removal the thermostat



1. Place the vehicle on a two-post lift.

2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

3. Loosen the mounting bolts and remove the engine protective pan.

4. Remove the air filter unit.

5. Drain the coolant from the engine cooling system.

6. Remove the water chamber.

7. Press the spring lock (1).

8. Turn the spring clamp (2).

9. Remove the thermostat (3).

Installing a thermostat



Note: Be sure to replace the thermostat gasket with a new one after each removal.


Caution: To ensure proper sealing, the sealing surfaces must be clean, dry and free of grease (avoid any fingerprints).


1. Install the thermostat with a new gasket.



2. Branch the spring and spring fixing mount.

3. Press the spring lock and turn.

4. Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

5. Fill and bleed the cooling system.

6. Disconnect the hoses from the thermostat cover.

7. Loosen the bolts (3) and remove the thermostat cover.

8. Remove the thermostat (4) with the seal (5).

Installing a thermostat



1. Using a cleaning agent, clean and degrease the thermostat housing.

Note: Be sure to replace the thermostat gasket with a new one after each removal.


2. Install a new gasket on the thermostat.

3. Install the thermostat.

4. Install the thermostat cover.

5. Connect the upper radiator hose and the expansion tank hose to the thermostat cover.

6. Using special pliers for hose clamps (Mot. 1448) or (Mot. 1202-02) install clamps.

7. Fill and bleed the engine cooling system.

8. Install the engine protective pan.

Engine K9K



The thermostat is not separated from the water chamber. To replace it, you need to replace the water chamber.
