If faulty, replace the water pump assembly.
You will need: socket heads "10", "12", a screwdriver with a flat blade.
1. Drain the coolant (see "Replacing the coolant").
Note. The work on replacing the water pump is shown using the K7J and K7M engines as an example. Replacing the water pump on the K4M engine is carried out in a similar way.

2. Remove the timing belt (see "Replacement and adjustment of belt tension, replacement of the timing drive tension roller").

3. Remove the eight bolts securing the water pump to the cylinder block.

4. Use a screwdriver to pry up the water pump...

5. ...and take it off.

6. Clean the mating surface of the cylinder block.

7. Apply Loctite 518 anaerobic sealant to the water pump flange (or its equivalent), as shown in the photo.

8. Tighten the water pump mounting bolts in the sequence shown in the photo. Tighten the M6 bolts to a torque of 10 N·m (1 kgf·m), and the M8 bolt to a torque of 22 N·m (2.2 kgf·m).
9. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
10. Fill with coolant (see "Replacing the coolant").
