Disassembling the pump is quite a labor-intensive job, so if it malfunctions, we recommend replacing the pump assembly.
You will need socket heads "10", "12", and a flat-blade screwdriver.
1. Drain the coolant (see "Replacing the coolant").
2. Remove the timing belt (see "Replacing and adjusting the belt tension, replacing the timing drive tension roller").

3. Remove the eight bolts securing the water pump to the cylinder block.

4. Use a screwdriver to pry up the water pump...

5. ...and take it off.

6. Clean the mating surface of the cylinder block.

7. Apply Loctite 518 anaerobic sealant to the water pump flange (or its equivalent), as shown in the photo.

8. Tighten the water pump mounting bolts in the sequence shown in the photo. Tighten the M6 bolts to a torque of 10 N·m (1.0 kgf·m), and the M8 bolt to a torque of 22 N·m (2.2 kgf·m).
9. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
10. Fill with coolant (see "Replacing the coolant").
