Note: This subsection describes the process of removing the generator using the example of a vehicle with the most complete configuration as the most labor-intensive.
You will need: a 13 mm socket head and a flat-blade screwdriver.
1. Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Remove the accessory drive belt (see "Replacing auxiliary drive belts").
3. Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the generator by pressing the connector lock with a screwdriver.
4. Unscrew the wire tip fastening nut...
5. ...and disconnect the wire from the generator terminal.
6. Remove the front bumper (see "Removing and installing the front bumper")
7. Unscrew the air conditioning compressor mounting bolts and, without disconnecting the pipes from it, carefully move it to the side.
8. Remove the power steering pump mounting bolts (see "Replacing the power steering pump"), do not disconnect the pipeline and hose from the pump.
9. Use a screwdriver to pry the wire harness holder off the attachment bracket.
10. Remove the three generator mounting bolts.
11. Move the power steering pump aside so that the hose does not interfere with the removal of the alternator, and remove the alternator.
12. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal. Tighten the generator mounting bolts to 21 N·m (2.1 kgf·m).
