Note. When installed on the same vehicle axle, it is necessary to use springs and shock absorbers with the same technical characteristics. If it is necessary to replace one spring or shock absorber, it is also necessary to replace the second spring or shock absorber.
Removal
- Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery.
- Raise the car on a lift and remove the wheel from the required side.
- Disconnect the brake hose and the brake pad wear indicator and ABS sensor wires from the holders on the shock absorber strut.
- Unscrew the nut securing the upper ball joint pin of the stabilizer link, while holding it with a wrench to prevent the ball joint pin from turning.
- Install the protective cover on the drive shaft outer joint boot.
- Remove the two bolts securing the lower part of the shock absorber to the steering knuckle.
- In the engine compartment, disconnect the windshield wiper connector from the holder.
- Remove the windshield wiper arms.
- To access the three nuts securing the upper spring cup to the body, unscrew the two knurled handles and remove the sound insulation, and also unscrew the four bolts securing the cover. Be careful not to lose the washers located between the cover and the first layer of sound insulation.
- Unscrew the three nuts of the upper suspension strut mounting.
- Move the steering knuckle slightly to the side and remove the shock absorber strut and spring assembly.
Installation
- Installation is carried out in sequence. reverse to withdrawal. Take care not to damage the drive shaft outer joint bellows.
- Tighten the bolts securing the shock absorber strut to the steering knuckle to the required torques, with the bolt nuts located on the steering linkage side, the nuts securing the upper spring cup to the body, the nut securing the stabilizer bar ball joint pin and the wheel mounting bolts.
