Note. Since significant force is required to press in the outer ring of the hub bearing, if this ring has been removed, the entire bearing must be replaced, since the bearing raceway will be damaged.
Removal
- Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery.
- Raise the car on a lift and remove the wheel from the required side.
- Using the Tav puller. 476 disconnect the tie rod end from the steering knuckle (rice. 10.7).
- Remove the two bolts securing the brake mechanism to the steering knuckle.
- Disconnect the brake hose and brake pad wear indicator wire from the holders on the shock absorber strut and secure them to the front suspension spring.
- Remove the caliper bracket assembly, caliper holder and brake pads and, without disconnecting the brake hose, secure them to the front suspension strut with soft wiring. Be careful not to damage the brake hose.
- Remove the ABS sensor.
- With a special device Rou. 604-01 block the hub from turning.
- Unscrew the nut securing the drive shaft to the hub.
Attention. Do not block the hub from turning by pressing the brake pedal, as this may damage or cut off the brake disc mounting bolts.
- Remove the two Torx T30 bolts securing the brake disc to the front wheel hub.
- Remove the brake disc.
Attention. The drive shaft joint splines are glued to the front wheel hubs, so a special puller must be used to remove the drive shafts.
- Puller T. Av. 1050-02. attached to the brake disc, press the drive shaft out of the front wheel hub.
- Install the protective cover on the drive shaft outer joint boot
- Loosen the lower arm ball joint pin nut as much as possible and use a ball joint puller to press the joint out of the steering knuckle (rice. 10.8).
- Unscrew the bolts securing the shock absorber to the steering knuckle and remove the steering knuckle.
- Device Rou. 1392 and use a press to press the hub out of the steering knuckle (rice. 10.18).
- Puller with grips and device Rou. 15-01 remove the inner race of the bearing from the hub (rice. 10.19).
- Remove the bearing retaining rings (pic. 10.20).
Pic. 10.20. Bearing snap ring location
- Press and mandrel Rou. 1392 of the corresponding diameter, resting the steering knuckle on the T. Av. mandrel. 1230 push the outer race of the bearing out of the steering knuckle (pic. 10.21).
Pic. 10.21. Using the Rou press and mandrels. 1392 and T. Av. 1230 for extruding the outer race of the bearing from the steering knuckle
- Clean and check the condition of the steering knuckle and front wheel hub. Make sure that the surface of the bearing seat in the steering knuckle is not damaged.
Installation
- Apply a thin coat of Loctite SELBLOC around the circumference of the bearing outer race.
- Using the mandrels used for removal, press the outer bearing race into the steering knuckle (pic. 10.22).

- Install the second retaining ring for the bearing outer race.
- Install the bearing inner race onto the Rou tubular mandrel. f392 and press the front wheel hub into it.
- Check the correct location of the parts and the smooth rotation of the hub.
- Using the shank of the old drive shaft, clean the hub splines of any remaining Loctite SELBLOC adhesive. To remove old SELBLOC adhesive, insert a mandrel into the hub several times.
- Connect the lower control arm ball joint to the steering knuckle and tighten the new ball joint nut to the required torque.
- Apply Loctite SELBLOC to drive shaft outer joint spline
- Insert the drive shaft spline into the front wheel hub. The drive shaft must fit freely into the front wheel hub until a thread appears for screwing on the drive shaft nut.
- Screw a new nut securing the drive shaft to the front wheel hub.
- Install the steering knuckle.
- Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
- Install the wheel and lower the car.
- Press the brake pedal several times to press the brake pads against the brake rotor.
- Check the alignment of the front wheels.
