Preliminary checks
Before checking wheel alignment, do the following:
- check the condition and size of tires, tire pressure and degree of wear;
- check the condition of the hinge joints, silent blocks and elastic supports, the absence of play in the hinges and supports, play in the bearings of the front wheel hubs.
- check the end runout of the wheels, it should not exceed 1.2 mm;
- check the condition of the suspension, i.e. The height of the control points of the lower part of the body must be the same.
Determining the steering midpoint
- To prevent the vehicle from drifting, before checking and adjusting the angles of the front wheels, it is necessary to check whether the steering control is in the middle point position
- Remove the vehicle's ignition key.
- Use an anti-theft device to lock the steering wheel, while the steering is set to the midpoint position.
- In this position, install the measuring equipment and begin testing.
- When adjusting wheel toe, ensure equal dimensions (X, fig. 10.31) from tie rod hexagons to tie rod ends.

Underbody check points H1 - the distance between the axis of rotation of the front wheel and the floor is measured on the sub-frame vertically from point A (pic. 10.29); H2 - distance between the lower part of the sub-frame (at point A) and floor; H5 - distance between the rear cross member and the floor.
