1. Large boot collar. 2. Small boot collar. 3. Anther of the drive shaft. 4. Ball cage. 5. Stub axle housing. 6. Ball cage. 7. Drive shaft. 8. Balls. 9. Retaining ring.
Attention: When performing work, use sealed gloves (nitrile).
Removing the boot of the drive shaft from the side of the wheel
1. Place the vehicle on a two post lift.
2. Unscrew the fastening bolts and remove the engine protective tray.
3. Drain the gearbox oil
4. Remove the front wheel from the appropriate side of the vehicle.
5. Remove the drive shaft from the respective side.
6. Remove the output seal from the corresponding side of the differential.
7. Use a hacksaw or wire cutters to remove a large (10) and small (11) boot clamps, being careful not to damage the pivot housing or drive shaft.
8. Bend back boot to release stub axle housing.
9. Cut off the boot of the drive shaft.
10. Remove as much grease as possible from the driveshaft pivot housing.
Note: Do not use solvents to remove grease.
11. Using a hammer and a rounded drift, apply several blows to the ball cage (12), to detach the stub axle housing (13) from the drive shaft.
12. Remove retaining ring (14).
Installing the driveshaft boot on the wheel side
Caution: Replace boot, circlip and boot clamps with new ones after each removal.
1. Use a cleaning agent to clean the drive shaft and stub axle housing.
2. Place the small clamp (15) to the drive shaft.
3. Apply a light coat of the grease supplied with the new boot to the driveshaft to facilitate installation of the boot.
4. Install a new boot (16) to the drive shaft.
5. Insert the edges of the boot into the groove of the drive shaft.
6. Install retaining ring (17)
7. Apply grease between the driveshaft boot and the stub axle housing.
8. Install the stub axle housing (18) on the drive shaft by tapping the stub axle housing with a hammer through the copper rod until the retaining ring snaps into place.
9. Place the lip of the driveshaft boot into the groove on the stub axle housing.
Note: Make sure the lip of the dust boot is properly seated in the driveshaft groove.
10. Install a small clamp on the boot of the drive shaft.
11. Install a large clamp on the boot of the drive shaft.
12. Crimp clamps with special tools (Tav. 1168) (19) or (Tav. 1784) (20).

13. Install the differential output seal on the appropriate side.
14. Install the front drive shaft on the appropriate side of the vehicle.
15. Install the front wheel on the appropriate side of the vehicle.
16.Fill the gearbox with oil.
17. Install the engine protection tray.
