Removing differential seals
1. Place the vehicle on a two post lift.
2. Unscrew the fastening bolts and remove the engine protective tray.
3. Drain the oil from the gearbox.

4. Remove the front left wheel from the vehicle.
5. Remove the left front drive shaft.
Oil seal on the right side of the differential
6. Remove the front right wheel from the vehicle.
7. Remove the right front drive shaft.
Closed type gearbox
8. Tap the base of the lips of the gland with a punch and a small hammer to tilt it into the housing.
9. Remove the oil seal with pliers, being careful not to damage the sun gear splines.
Open type gearbox
10. Tap the base of the lips of the gland with a drift and a small hammer to tilt it into the housing.
11. Remove the oil seal with a screwdriver, being careful not to damage the differential housing.
Installing differential seals
Attention: Replace the differential seals with new ones after each removal.
Open type gearbox
Note: The differential output seal is installed using the sun gear seal mandrel (Bvi. 945), consisting of a protective element (A) and actually mandrels (IN).
1. Insert the lubricated protective element (A) into the sun gear.
2. Install the lubricated differential output seal (WITH) mandrel (IN) into the nest.

3. Install a new left differential output oil seal with mandrel (Bvi. 1960) (1), by selecting a part "L".
4. With mandrel (Bvi, 1960) (1) and a copper hammer (2) Press in the new left output differential seal until it stops in the socket.
Closed type gearbox, oil seal on the right side of the differential
5. Drive shaft with relay bearing:
- Install a new right rimmed differential output seal (Bvi. 1960) (3), by selecting a part "R".
- With mandrel (Bvi. 1960) and a copper hammer, press the new right output differential seal all the way into the socket.
6. Drive shaft without relay bearing:
- Install a new right differential output oil seal with mandrel (Bvi. 1960) (4), by selecting a part "L".
- With mandrel (Bvi. 1960) and a copper hammer, press the new right output differential seal all the way into the socket.
Further installation for all types of oil seals
Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
Fill the gearbox with oil.
