
In the second version, the elastomer seal has a flat working edge and a safety sleeve, which also serves to install the seal on the engine.

Note: Both seal modifications can be installed on the same engine. Seals are not interchangeable. Always replace the old seal with a seal of the same modification, except when replacing one or both camshafts.
Installation of the first version of the intake camshaft seals
Install the seals using tool 1 (Mot. 1491) and old nuts 2.

Installing the exhaust camshaft oil seal
Caution! Always hold the seal by the protective sleeve 1, as seals of this type are easily damaged. Never touch the elastomer seal 2 after pressing in, to prevent oil leakage.

Screw stud 1 of tool (Mot. 1632) into the camshaft.

Install the protective sleeve with seal on the camshaft.

Fit cap 1 and flange nut 2 of the tool (Mot. 1632).

Tighten the flange nut until the cap touches the cylinder head.

Remove the nut, cap, protective sleeve and stud. Install the timing belt Install:
- accessory drive belt;
- new inlet camshaft plugs using tool (Mot. 1487):
- new exhaust camshaft plugs using tool (Mot 1488).
The installation of the remaining components is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
Fill the engine cooling system with fluid.
Connect the battery. Remove air from the cooling system.
