In the second version, the elastomeric seal has a flat working edge and a safety sleeve, which also serves to install the seal on the engine.
Note. Both modifications of the stuffing box can be installed on the same engine. The seals are not interchangeable. Be sure to replace the old oil seal with an oil seal of the same modification, except when replacing one or both camshafts.
Installing the intake camshaft seals of the first version
Install oil seals using tool 1 (Mot. 1491) and old nuts 2.
Installing the exhaust camshaft seal
Attention! Be sure to hold the oil seal by the protective sleeve 1, as this type of oil seal is easily damaged. In no case do not touch the elastomer seal 2 after pressing in order to prevent oil leakage.
Screw in the pin 1 of the fixture (Mot. 1632) into the camshaft.
Establish on a camshaft the protective plug with an epiploon.
Installing a protective sleeve with an oil seal on the camshaft.
Install cap 1 and collar nut 2 tools (Mot. 1632).
Tighten the collar nut until the cap contacts the cylinder head.
Remove the nut, cap, protective sleeve and stud. Install timing belt Install:
- accessory drive belt;
- new intake camshaft plugs with tool (Mot. 1487):
- new exhaust camshaft plugs using tool (Mot 1488).
The rest of the components are installed in the reverse order of removal.
Fill the engine cooling system with liquid.
Connect the storage battery Remove air from the cooling system.
