Removal
- Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery.
- Remove the cylinder head cover.
- Remove the plug on the timing case located opposite the camshaft sprocket mounting bolt
- Rotate the engine crankshaft until the timing mark on the balance shaft sprocket aligns with the mark on the camshaft sprocket.
- Loosen the automatic chain tensioner as much as possible and use tool Mot 1209 to secure it in this position
- Remove the bolt securing the balancing shaft sprocket.
- Remove the balance shaft sprocket along with the chain.
- If it is necessary to replace the balance shaft drive chain and side sprockets, to prevent the parts from falling, use a clean rag to close the channels under the camshaft sprocket.
- Remove the retaining rings and sprockets.
- Check the condition of the chain drive sprocket bearings.
Installation
- Install the two side sprockets and secure them with retaining rings
- Install the balancing shaft sprocket together with the chain, ensuring that the mark on the balancing shaft sprocket is aligned with the mark on the camshaft sprocket (see figure 2.5).
Pic. 2.5. Fixing the balance shaft chain:1 - device Mot 1209; 2 - camshaft sprocket; 3 - balancing shaft sprocket
- Apply Loctite FrenManche to the sprocket bolt threads and install the bolt.
- Remove the device blocking the automatic chain tensioner and check the chain tension
- Apply Loctite Frenetanche to the threads of the cylinder head cover bolts
- Install the cylinder head cover and secure it with bolts.
- Connect the wire to the negative terminal of the battery.
