This sensor is located on the steering column and is fixed on the contact disk.
Caution: Do not place pyrotechnics (seat belt pretensioners and airbag modules) near heat sources or open flame - the devices may work.
Removing the steering angle sensor
1. Perform the procedure for deactivating the airbag system (see chapter "Passive safety system").
2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
3. Remove the driver's front airbag (see chapter "Passive safety system").
4. Remove the steering wheel.
5. Loosen the bolts (1) at the bottom of the steering column cover and remove the top cover.
6. To remove the bottom part of a casing of a steering column.
7. Disconnect the steering wheel angle sensor connector.
8. Loosen the bolts (2) and remove the steering angle sensor.
Installing the Steering Angle Sensor
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
Connect the negative battery terminal.
Attention: To avoid sudden activation of pyrotechnic devices (airbag modules or seat belt pretensioners) Check the airbag computer with a scan tool.
Unlock the airbag computer using the scan tool.
Perform a post-repair procedure using the diagnostic tool ("ABS-ESP computer"/"Steering wheel angle sensor").
