Checking the power steering
1. Place the vehicle on a two post lift.
2. Open the hood.
3. Set the front wheels of the vehicle to the straight ahead position.
4. Loosen the mounting screws and remove the engine protective tray and air fairing.
5. Install the hose clamp (Ms. 583) (6) to the power steering low pressure pipe.
6. Remove pressure pipe (7) power steering pump.
Note:
- If the vehicle is equipped with an aggregated power steering pump, use the connecting hose from the Dir. 1928 with green marking ring.
- If the vehicle is equipped with a power steering pump, use the connecting hose from the Dir. 1928 with red marking ring.
7. Connect the power steering tester (Dir. 1928) between output (8) hydraulic booster pump and pressure pipe (9).
Note: Pay attention to the direction of installation - in the direction of the arrow (10).
8. Remove hose clamp (Ms. 583) from the low pressure pipeline.
Note: Make sure the tester valve is open.
9. Start the engine.
10. Check the tightness of the test device for the power steering (Dir. 1928).
eleven. Bleed the hydraulic steering system.
12.Check that the hydraulic pressure in the power steering circuit increases when the steering wheel is turned first to one side and then to the other.
Note: The following procedure will require two people.
13. Pressurize the power steering system by turning the valve wheel of the tester (Dir. 1928). If the pressure reaches 75 bar±5, the power steering pump is OK.
Note: Do not leave the power steering hydraulic circuit closed (do not screw in the tester wheel too far) longer than a few seconds to avoid damage to the power steering pump.
14. Stop the engine.
15. Install hose clamp (Ms. 583) to the low pressure pipeline.
16. Disconnect the power steering tester (Dir. 1928) between the output of the hydraulic booster pump and the pressure pipe.
17. Remove hose clamp (Ms. 583) from the low pressure pipeline.
18. Start the engine.
19. Check the tightness of the power steering pump.
20. Bleed the hydraulic circuit of the power steering system.
21. Install the air fairing and engine protection tray.
22. Close the hood.
Bleeding the hydraulic circuit of the power steering system
1. Place the vehicle on a two post lift.
2. Raise the vehicle so that its wheels are off the ground.
3. Fill the power steering reservoir.
4. Start the car.
5. Top up the power steering fluid.
Attention: To avoid damage to the power steering, do not keep the steering wheel turned all the way for a long time.
6. Turn the steering wheel three times from lock to lock to the left and right.
7. Top up the power steering fluid.
Attention: The level of the hydraulic booster fluid in the tank must be between the marks "MIN" and ''MAX''.
