Removal the steering rod
1. Place the vehicle on a two-post lift.
2. Remove the front wheel from the vehicle.
3. Remove the tie rod end (see above)
4. Remove the steering gear boot (see above).
5. Unlock the steering column.
6. Install the steering rack fixture (Dir. 1306-01) (1) on the steering rack from the side of the steering gear pinion.
7. Using a special ball joint puller (Dir. 1923), disconnect the steering rod with the ball joint (2).
8. Remove the steering rod with the ball joint.
Installing the steering rod
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following:
- Apply a high-strength locking compound to the threads of the steering rod ball joint.
- Apply silicone grease to the steering rack and tie rod ball joint.
- Check and adjust the wheel alignment angles of the vehicle.
