Removing the tie rod
1. Place the vehicle on a two post lift.
2. Remove the front wheel from the vehicle.
3. Remove the tie rod end (see above)
4. Remove the boot of the steering gear (see above).
5. Unlock the steering column.
6. Install steering rack tool (Dir. 1306-01) (1) on the steering rack from the side of the steering gear gear.
7. With a special ball joint extractor (Dir. 1923) disconnect the ball joint (2).
8. Remove tie rod with ball joint.
Tie rod installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following:
- Apply a high-strength locking compound to the tie rod ball joint threads.
- Apply silicone grease to the steering rack and tie rod ball joint.
- Check and adjust vehicle wheel alignment.
