Removing the steering column
1. Perform the procedure for deactivating the airbag system (see chapter "Passive safety system").
2. Set the front wheels of the vehicle to the straight ahead position.
3. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
4. Remove the driver's front airbag (see chapter "Passive safety system").
5. Remove the steering wheel.
6. Remove the contact disk and steering column switches (see chapter "Passive safety system").
7. Remove the steering column cover:
- Loosen the bolts (1) at the bottom of the steering column cover and remove the top cover.
- Remove the lower part of the steering column cover.
8. Disconnect the ignition lock connector.
9. To turn away bolts of fastening and to remove a steering column in gathering.
Note: Fixing bolt (1) is "anti-theft". Use a chisel and hammer to remove this bolt.
10. Remove the ignition lock from the steering column.
Steering column installation
Installation is made in an order, the return to removal.
Note:
- Make sure that the connector locking devices are properly engaged.
- Tighten new "anti-theft" bolt with a flathead screwdriver.
Check the operation of the contact disk by turning the steering wheel all the way to the left and right.
Check that the steering wheel is installed correctly.
Perform airbag activation procedure (see chapter "Passive safety system").
Verify that no malfunction indicators are lit on the instrument panel.
