Power steering fluid level control (Renault 19)

The location of the power steering fluid reservoir varies depending on the engine type. To improve driving safety, you should check the power steering fluid reservoir regularly whenever you check the engine oil level. Like the gearbox, the power steering uses ATF. The power steering fluid level is measured at normal air temperature.

• for 1.7/1.8 liter engines, 16-valve engines and diesel engines, the fluid level in the transparent tank should be between the upper and lower control marks.
• If necessary, top up with the recommended brand of ATF.
• If the fluid level is much lower than the lower control mark or you have to frequently top up the ATF, then you need to determine the cause of the fluid loss.
