Note: Models equipped with a driver's side airbag have the word "AIRBAG" on the horn button. A new steering wheel mounting bolt will be required during installation.
Models without airbag
Removal
1. Set the front wheels to the straight ahead position and lock the steering column lock.
2. Being careful not to damage the steering wheel, carefully press the horn button with a screwdriver. Disconnect the wiring connector and remove the button.

3. Unscrew the steering wheel mounting bolt and discard it - it must be replaced.
4. Mark the steering wheel and steering column shaft, then remove the wheel from the shaft grooves. If the wheel cannot be removed, knock it off by tapping it in the center with your palm or using a twisting motion.
Installation
5. Perform installation in reverse order, paying attention to the following:
- a) Before installation, make sure that the multi-function turn signal switch is in the center position. If this is not done, the steering wheel protrusion will break the switch key when installing it.
- b) Install the wheel, align the marks made before removal, then insert a new mounting bolt and tighten it to the specified Specifications effort.
Models with airbag
Before starting work, refer to the precautions given in Chapter On-board electrical equipment.
Removal
1. Remove the airbag unit (refer to Chapter On-board electrical equipment).

2. Place the front wheels in the straight ahead position and lock the steering column. Disconnect the horn switch wiring connector (refer to the accompanying illustration).

3. Loosen and remove the steering wheel mounting bolt, then mark the steering wheel and steering column shaft (refer to the accompanying illustration). Throw away the bolt - it needs to be replaced.

4. Remove the steering wheel from the steering column grooves, being careful not to damage the electrical wiring (refer to the accompanying illustration).
Installation
1. Install in the reverse order, paying attention to the notes above. Before installing the steering wheel, make sure the front wheels are still straight ahead and that the air bag contact unit is centered (refer to Section Removal and installation of airbag components). Finally, install the airbag unit as described in Chapter On-board electrical equipment.
