1. Remove the ball joint of the transverse link as described in Section Removal and installation of a tip of steering draft.
2. Mark the location of the protective boot on the tie rod. Release the clamps and separate the protective cover from the steering gear housing and the tie rod end.
3. Thoroughly clean the tie rod and steering box using fine sandpaper. Remove any corrosion, burrs, or unevenness that could damage the sealing lips of the new protective boot during installation.
4. Remove grease from the old protective boot. If it is not contaminated with sand, apply it to the tie rod inner ball joint. Otherwise, apply fresh molybdenum grease.
5. Lubricate the inside of the new protective boot. Carefully place the protective boot on the tie rod and install it on the steering gear housing. Align the outer edge of the protective boot with the mark made on the tie rod prior to removal, then attach it with new clamps.
6. Establish a spherical joint of steering draft as it is described in Section Removal and installation of a tip of steering draft.
