Removing
1. Acting as described in Chapter Maintenance, loosen the auxiliary drive belt and remove the belt from the pump pulley. Please note that before removing the belt, it is necessary to loosen the bolts securing the pump pulley.
2. Using special clamps, pinch the pump supply hose. This will reduce fluid loss during the next steps.
E7J and K7M engines with air conditioning
1. Remove the three mounting bolts and remove the pulley from the pump, noting its orientation.
2. Disconnect the supply hose from the pump, then loosen the union nut and separate the supply tube. Be prepared for fluid to escape when tubing and hose are disconnected, and plug ends and pump couplings to minimize fluid loss and prevent dirt from entering the unit. Discard the sealing ring of the feed tube connecting nut - it must be replaced.
3. Loosen the bolts securing the booster pump to the bracket and remove the pump from the engine.
E7J and K7M engines without air conditioning
1. Proceed as described above in paragraphs 1 and 2 Removing the E7J AND K7M ENGINE WITH AIR CONDITIONING.
2. Turn away two top and forward bolts of fastening and remove the pump (refer to accompanying illustration).
All other engines
1. Turn away bolts of fastening and remove a pulley from the pump.
2. On F3R and F8Q engines, remove the wiring harness and feed tube mounting clamp bolt.
3. On F7R engines with air conditioning, remove the alternator (contact the head Engine electrical equipment) and the auxiliary drive belt tensioner.
5a. On F3R and F8Q engines, loosen the three bolts securing the power steering pump to the bracket.
5b. Remove the pump from the engine (refer to illustrations).
6a. On f7R engines, loosen the left bolt securing the pump to the bracket.
6b. Loosen the right bolts of its fastening (refer to illustrations). Remove the pump.
Installation
All other engines
1. Place the pump assembly in working position and securely tighten the mounting bolts.
2. Install a new O-ring on the supply tube connector, insert the tube into the pump and tighten the union nut to Specifications effort. Connect the inlet pipe and securely tighten the mounting bracket. Where necessary, install the feed tube and wire harness retaining bolt and tighten.
3. Install the pulley and insert the mounting bolts, but do not tighten them yet.
4. On F7R engines with air conditioning, install the alternator (contact the head Engine electrical equipment) and belt tensioner.
5. Install the drive belt and tighten it as described in Chapter Maintenance. Block the pump pulley with a suitable tool and tighten its bolts.
6. Remove the clamps from the supply hose and bleed the hydraulic system as described in Section Bleeding the hydraulic system of the power steering.
