Note: Replace the brake pads at the same time with one set for the wheels of the same axle. Do not mix brake pads from different manufacturers or different qualities.
Removing the rear brake pads
1. Place the vehicle on a two post lift.
2. Release the parking brake.
3. Remove the rear wheels from the car
4. Remove the brake drums
5. Remove the bottom (1) and top (2) coupling spring
6. Compress the pistons of the working brake cylinder with pliers or a similar tool.
7. Remove the spring (3) automatic clearance compensation system.
8. Remove retaining spring (4) secondary brake shoe straps.
9. Remove clamping springs (5), while holding the pin against the brake base plate.
10. Remove spacer (6).
11. Remove the bases of the brake pads one by one (D) with fixed spacers.
12. Remove primary (A) and secondary (IN) brake pads.
13. Disconnect the parking brake cable from the operating parking brake lever.
Installing the rear brake pads
1. Use a vacuum cleaner to remove dust from the brake drum and brake base plate. Clean the meanness with a cleaning agent.
2. Apply a thin layer of lubricant to the spacers.
Note:
- The brake components are different on the left and right sides, so it's important not to mix them up.
- The left brake bolt has a right hand thread and the right brake bolt has a left hand thread.
3. Install the brake pad spacer holding them together with the springs.
4. Install the automatic gap compensation spring onto the spacer.
5. Connect the drive cable to the operating parking brake lever.
6. Install the primary brake shoe and hook the spring of the automatic clearance compensation system onto it.
7. Install the primary and secondary brake pad assemblies onto the base plate.
8. Install the upper and lower return springs.
9. Install the thrust springs, keeping the rods pressed against the brake base plate.
10. To remove pincers from pistons of the working brake cylinder.
11. Make sure that the parking brake cable is correctly placed on the parking brake operating lever.
12. Using a screwdriver, adjust the diameter of the brake pads along the spacer to a value of 202.5±0.1 mm.
13. Perform the same adjustment on the other side of the vehicle.
14. Adjust the parking brake lever.
15. Install the brake drums.
16. Install the rear wheels on the car.
17. Adjust the position of the brake pads by pressing the brake pedal several times.
18. Verify that the automatic gap compensation system is working properly (with several clicks on the brake pedal from the brake mechanism, characteristic clicks should be heard).
