Note. To replace the bearing, it is convenient to use a commercially available puller for pressing out and pressing in the hub bearings.
Note. It is more convenient to replace the front hub bearing on the steering knuckle removed from the car. We recommend replacing the bearings of both front wheel hubs at the same time.
1. Remove the steering knuckle (see «Removal and installation of a rotary fist»).
2. Clamp the steering knuckle in a vise and knock out the hub with a hammer, using a mandrel of a suitable diameter (e.g. socket head).
3. Remove the hub. Most likely, the outer half of the inner ring of the bearing will remain on it.
Attention! After removing the hub, the bearing is unsuitable for reuse.
4. Use a puller...
5.... to remove it from the hub.
6. Install the bearing puller, press out and remove the bearing from the knuckle.
7. If a puller is not available, knock out the bearing using a drift of suitable diameter, since a pressed bearing cannot be reused.
8. Clean the parts and lubricate the inner surface of the fist socket and the outer surface of the hub with a thin layer of Litol-24 grease.
9. Press in the new bearing against the stop in a rotary fist.
Attention! When pressing the bearing into the knuckle housing, the force must be applied to the outer ring of the bearing, otherwise the bearing may be damaged.
10. Press the hub into the bearing until it stops, supporting the inner ring of the bearing with a stand.
Attention! If, when pressing the hub, the bearing inner ring is not fixed with a support, it can be damaged.
Note. On vehicles equipped with ABS, install the wheel rotation sensor bracket so that the X angle is 35°±5°.
11. Establish a rotary fist on the car in an order, the return to removal.
12. Check and, if necessary, adjust the wheel alignment. Use the services of workshops with special equipment.
