The selector lever can be installed in 7 positions, with two transmission modes possible (normal or sporty).
R: Parking. The gearbox is mechanically locked and the starter can be activated. The selector lever should never be moved to this position while the vehicle is moving. This position ensures safety when performing maintenance while the engine is running. Do not forget to move the selector to this position when parking the car.
R: Reverse. The selector lever can only be moved to this position when the vehicle is stationary. If this position is changed when the vehicle is traveling at a speed greater than 6 mph (10 km/h) or the engine crankshaft speed is more than 2550 min-1, then the reverse gear will not engage and the warning lamp indicating a malfunction will come on (in the instrument cluster). To engage reverse gear, the selector should be moved back to the position «N» or «R», and then back to position «R». If the vehicle speed and engine speed meet the conditions listed above, the reverse gear will engage and the warning light will go out. In this case, information about the malfunction is not recorded in the computer memory.
N: Neutral position. The transmission is in neutral and none of its components are engaged. The starter can be activated.
D: Automatic selection of one of the forward gears. This position ensures automatic engagement of all four forward gears (with automatic switching). The selector lever can be moved to this position when the car is moving or stationary.
3: Automatic selection of the first three gears. This position prevents shifting into fourth gear. It can be selected when the vehicle is moving or stationary. If the selector is moved to this position while the car is moving, then third gear will be engaged only if the engine speed is below 5790 rpm-1±10% (read by the XR25 handheld scan tool when performing test #05).
2: Automatic selection of the first two gears. This position prevents third and fourth gears from being engaged and can be selected when the vehicle is moving or stationary. If the transition to this position is made. when the car is moving, second gear will only engage if the engine speed is below 3680 min-1±10% (read by the XR25 handheld scan tool when performing test #05).
1: Engage only first gear. This position prevents second, third and fourth gears from being engaged and can be selected when the vehicle is moving or stationary. If the transition to this position is made while the car is moving, then second gear will only engage if the engine speed is below 1930 min-1±10% (read by the XR25 handheld scan tool when performing test #05).
Pregnant «R» or «N» selector lever, the driving wheels of the car are blocked.
The higher gear will only be engaged when the potentiometer registers the throttle opening or the selector lever is moved from 2nd or 3rd position «fixed» transfer to position «Dm.
If the accelerator pedal is suddenly released while 2nd or 3rd gear is engaged (throttle valve returns to idle position), and the selector is in position «3» or «D». the transmission will remain engaged. In the 3rd or 4th stages, the torque converter is blocked to eliminate energy losses.
Design
The aluminum alloy gearbox housing is covered with covers that provide access to the gear and clutch assembly, final drive and differential. The oil sump provides access to the hydraulic unit.
The differential housing is separate from the gear housing and is filled with various oils.
Clutches and brakes
Hydraulic actuators lock or release individual elements of the planetary gear, thereby changing the transmission ratio. The locking is performed by the brake mechanism and multi-disc friction clutches operating in oil.
Hydraulic distributor
The oil pump supplies oil through a hydraulic distributor. which has valves for supplying oil under pressure to the required brake mechanisms and friction clutches. The hydraulic distributor regulates the oil pressure, taking into account the engine load.
Oil pump
The oil pump is driven by the engine crankshaft through the torque converter, and supplies pressurized oil to the torque converter to lubricate the gearbox elements, as well as to operate the friction clutches and brakes.
Solenoid valves
Solenoid valves are designed to open or block the oil passages of the hydraulic distributor. which leads to gear shifting.
The electronic unit
The electronic unit receives signals from sensors that monitor vehicle speed and the position of the accelerator pedal. engine speed and selector lever position, and controls the solenoid valves.
It also monitors the electrical characteristics of each component of the electronic control system and, if necessary, warns the driver by turning on a warning lamp «malfunction». It can also provide a fault detection message at any time, which can be read using the XR25 handheld diagnostic tool.
Load potentiometer
The load potentiometer shows the throttle position.
Multifunction switch
The multifunction switch informs the electronic control unit about the position of the selector lever, and also allows you to turn on the starter when the selector lever is in position «R» and «N». turn the reversing lights on «R» and forcibly engages the gear with the selector in positions 3-2-1.
Pressure meter
The pressure sensor transmits information to the electronic unit about the pressure of the transmission fluid in the gearbox and monitors for faults in the gearbox.
Load sensor
The load potentiometer informs the electronic unit about the position of the accelerator pedal. It is connected to the throttle valve and transmits a signal with a voltage proportional to the opening angle of the throttle valve.
Speed sensor
The speed sensor transmits information to the electronic unit and allows you to determine the ideal ratio depending on the load.
Brake sensor
When braking (when the wheels are at the locking limit) the gearbox, if gears 3 or 4 are engaged, will automatically switch to transmitting torque to the gearbox along the turbine wheel shaft to prevent engine stalling when the vehicle speed sharply decreases and/or the engine speed is low.
Mode switch
This switch allows the driver to select the gear shift pattern at different engine speeds to suit the desired driving style.
