1 - Selector
Display 3 on the instrument panel informs you about the selected mode and the selected gear.
- R: parking
- R: Reverse
- N: neutral position
- D: automatic mode
- 4: zone indicating the mode of operation of the gearbox or gear engaged in manual mode.
Engine starting
By moving the selector to position P or N, turn on the ignition.
While holding the brake pedal depressed, move the gearbox mode selector lever out of position P.
Move the selector to position D or R only after the vehicle has come to a complete stop, leaving your foot on the brake pedal and releasing the accelerator pedal.
To move the mode switch lever from position P, press the brake pedal, and then press the unlock button 2.
Driving in automatic mode
Move selector 1 to position D. In most cases, under normal driving conditions, you will no longer need to use the selector lever: gear changes will occur automatically at the right time and at the optimum engine speed, because the automatic system takes into account the vehicle load, road profile and your chosen driving style.
Economic driving
During normal driving, the selector lever should always be in position D. Keep the accelerator pedal lightly depressed for automatic gear changes at relatively low engine speeds.
Acceleration and overtaking
Fully depress the accelerator pedal (to overcome resistance to pedal movement). This will allow, taking into account the capabilities of the engine, to switch to the optimal downshift.
Driving in non-automatic mode
Set mode selector lever 1 to position D, then move it to the left.
By successive presses on the selector lever, you can change gears manually:
- to downshift, move the selector lever back;
- to shift up a gear, move the selector lever forward.
The selected gear is shown on the display on the instrument panel.
Special cases
In some driving conditions (e.g. for engine protection) the gearbox can automatically select the required gear. In addition, in order not to «false inclusions», automation may refuse to perform gear shifting; in this case, the transmission indication will flash for a few seconds to alert you.
Special driving conditions
Mode «snow»: when driving on a road with poor grip (snow, mud...) press the button 5, and the indicator 6 will confirm the activation of the mode. After entering a road with good coverage, turn off this mode by pressing button 5 again. Indicator 6 will turn off. If the profile of the road and its sinuosity do not allow you to drive in automatic mode (like in the mountains), we recommend that you switch to manual mode.
This is necessary to avoid successive gear shifts on hills and to ensure engine braking on long descents.
In very cold weather, wait a while before moving the selector lever from P or N to D or R to prevent the engine from stopping. dear, to prevent slipping, you should switch to manual gear shifting and, when starting off, engage second gear.
Car parking
After a complete stop of the car, keeping your foot on the brake pedal, move the selector lever to position P, while the gearbox will take the neutral position, and the drive wheels will be mechanically blocked by the transmission. Apply the parking brake.
Faults
Before driving, if the lever is locked in position P, it can be switched manually by pressing the brake pedal. To do this, disconnect the base of the lever, simultaneously press in place 7 and on the release button 2.
