Range selector lever
The automatic transmission selector can be in one of seven positions:
- «R» - parking;
- «R» - reverse:
- «N» - neutral;
- «D» - driving in automatic gearshift mode (automatically switch 1,2,3 and 4th gears);
- «3» - automatic shift mode only 1,2 and 3rd gears (4th gear won't engage);
- «2» - automatic switching mode only 1st and 2nd gears (3rd and 4th gears won't engage);
- «1» - driving in first gear.
For safety reasons, in some positions the selector lever can only be engaged by pressing button A located on the handle.
Move the selector lever to position «D» (movement) or «R» (reverse) only after the vehicle has come to a complete stop by releasing the accelerator pedal and keeping the brake pedal depressed.
Switch B of automatic transmission control modes The automatic transmission control system provides two modes of gear shifting: «comfortable» and «sports». Switch B allows you to select the desired control mode depending on your driving style. The mode is selected by pressing the switch button B.
IN «comfortable» mode, higher gears are engaged at a relatively low speed of rotation of the engine crankshaft. (When this mode is turned on, the control lamp C does not light up.) IN «sports» gearshift mode occur at relatively higher engine speeds compared to «comfortable» mode. (When turned on «sports» the gearshift mode, the control lamp C lights up.)
Driving a car
When starting the engine, move the selector lever to position «R» or «N». Otherwise, the starter will not turn on (blocking the engine start for safety reasons).
Pulling off the car
Pressing the brake pedal with your foot, move the selector lever from the position «R' or «N to position «D». Move your foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator pedal. As a rule, in most cases, under normal traffic conditions, no further manipulation of the selector lever is required: gear changes will occur automatically at the right time and at the optimum engine speed. When shifting gears, the automatic system takes into account the load of the car, the longitudinal profile of the road and the style of control you have chosen («comfortable» or «sports»).
Special driving conditions
In hilly or mountainous terrain, if the longitudinal profile of the road and its sinuousness do not allow driving for a long time in 4th gear, we advise you to move the selector lever to the position «3» or even «2». In this case, gear changes will not occur too often, and the inclusion of the 4th (selector position «3») and 3rd (selector position «2») transmissions will be blocked. Using Selector Positions «3» and «2» under these driving conditions, it helps to reduce wear on the friction controls of the transmission. In particularly difficult driving conditions, turn the selector lever to the position «I». In this case, switching to 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears will be blocked. 1st gear provides high engine braking performance.
When driving on long descents, we recommend that you turn the selector lever to the position «3», «2» (or even «1») for more effective braking of the car by the engine and reduction of heating and wear of working brake mechanisms.
Intense overclocking
For intensive acceleration of the car from a standstill or while driving at a steady speed, additionally press the accelerator pedal to the stop. This will turn on the mode «kickdown». The gearbox will automatically shift to a lower gear, which will provide the best driving dynamics for the vehicle under the given conditions.
Economy driving
When driving on the road under normal conditions, the selector lever must always be in the position «D. Depress the accelerator pedal lightly and smoothly to shift gears at relatively low engine speeds.
Under normal driving conditions, do not use the «1», «2» and «3» automatic transmission selector lever.
Note. In cold weather, after starting the engine, before moving the selector lever from the «R» or N» into position «D» or «R», let the engine idle for a while. Otherwise, the engine may stall. At an air temperature of -20'C, wait about two minutes, at 0°C - about 30 seconds.
If this indicator lamp comes on while driving, this indicates a malfunction, see section «Dashboard».
Stopping the car
After the car has come to a complete stop, keeping your foot on the brake pedal, move the selector lever to position P» (parking). In this case, the gearbox will be in neutral, and the drive wheels will be mechanically blocked.
For greater safety when parking on steep slopes, especially when the vehicle is fully loaded, apply the optional parking brake.
