Every time the engine is overhauled, the cylinder block must be thoroughly cleaned, paying special attention to the lubrication holes. The removal of liners, pistons and connecting rods has been described in previous chapters.
Pay special attention to the installed O-ring on the bottom surface of each sleeve that serves as a coolant seal, and both additional O-rings on the diesel and V6 engines.
Diesel engine liners require more attention as they need to be changed more frequently. Be sure to include the year of manufacture of your vehicle and the serial number of the engine.
Three plugs are screwed into the wall of a 4-cylinder engine (tightening torque 40 Nm) and one plug - in the back of the cylinder block (80 Nm). The plugs are removed with a hex wrench.
Similar plugs are also screwed into the V6 engine block, the screw thread diameter of which is either 16 mm or 18 mm. To clean the lubrication channels, the plugs must be unscrewed.
