4 cylinder engines
1. The oil seal on the flywheel side can be changed as described in chapter 3. The oil seal can be changed after removing the gearbox with the engine installed. Remove the clutch, flywheel and old oil seal; carefully hammer the new one into place.
2. The oil seal in the camshaft drive cover is changed in the same way as described in chapter 3. Center the oil seal and install the camshaft drive cover. When replacing the oil seal on an installed engine, follow the instructions in chapters 19 and 20 before removing the camshaft drive cover. Then remove the old seal and install the new one. Apply grease to the seal face.

3. Replace the oil seal on the flywheel side. To replace the oil seal on an installed engine, remove the gearbox, clutch and flywheel (in the case of an automatic transmission, unscrew the drive pulley) and pry out the old seal with a screwdriver.
4. Hammer in a new epiploon by means of a punch. Be careful when using other tools.
5. Reassemble in reverse order. Follow the torque specifications for the flywheel, clutch or drive pulley bolts.
6. The oil seal at the front of the crankshaft can be replaced on an installed engine. To get closer to the oil seal, remove all installed drive belts and the crankshaft timing belt pulley.
7. Turn the crankshaft so that the key is at the top and remove the old oil seal with a screwdriver without damaging the camshaft drive cover.
8. Lubricate the new oil seal with engine oil and carefully hammer it into the camshaft drive cover and onto the crankshaft. Make sure the segment key is correctly installed and fit the pulley. Lubricate the thread and tighten the nut to 180 Nm.
