The diesel Renault 19 is equipped with a distribution injection pump from Bosch, Lucas or Roto. The VE high-pressure fuel pump, which was conceived for high-speed diesel engines, differs significantly in its principle of operation from the in-line high-pressure fuel pump used by Daimler-Benz (with one pump piston per cylinder). The distribution injection pump is simpler to manufacture, but has a slightly shorter service life.
Note. Recommendation: Distribution injection pump is particularly susceptible to contamination (dirt, water) fuel. When dirt, abrasive gets in, the hole in the clutch for regulating centrifugal force increases. This disrupts the operation of the engine. This entails significant costs, since the repair of the pump is carried out only on the test bench. Therefore, regularly change the fuel filter and remove water from it.
