Removal fuel pressure in the injection system (Renault Symbol 1)

When the ignition is turned on or when the engine is running, the fuel pump creates a gasoline pressure in the system that reaches 3 bar. The pressure in the system remains for some time after the ignition is turned off, therefore, when performing work that requires disconnecting the fuel lines, dismantling units and assemblies that use fuel, it is necessary to first reduce its pressure to atmospheric pressure.

Warning! Gasoline is a highly flammable liquid, so take all safety precautions when working with it.

Work order:

• remove the fuel pump relay located in the fuse and relay box under the hood behind the battery;
• start the engine and let it idle until all the fuel has been expelled from the system and the engine stops;
• turn off the ignition and install the fuel pump relay in its place.
