Pic. 3.102. Removing the cable sheath and adjusting screw from the mounting bracket
- remove the cable sheath with the adjusting screw from the mounting bracket (pic. 3.102), if necessary, remove the spring retainer, remembering its position in the groove of the screw;
- in the car, remove the decorative bottom trim under the steering column and disconnect the cable from the fuel pedal by squeezing the protrusions on its tip;
- in the engine compartment, release the cable attachments from the engine shield and remove it from the vehicle;
- inspect the cable, make sure there are no frays and free movement in the sheath.
Cable installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
Adjustment order:
- slide the adjusting bracket off the outer sheath of the cable under the hood. With the bracket removed, make sure that the sector is retracted to the stop. Gently pull the cable out of the seal to take up any slack;
- while holding the outer sheath of the cable in this position, install the brace in the last groove in the sheath in front of the rubber-sealed bracket and in front of the washer. The cable slack should now be minimal. Cable slack is necessary to obtain a stable idle speed;
- have an assistant press the accelerator pedal and check that the throttle opens fully and returns smoothly to its original position.
