After washing the engine, the throttle cable must be lubricated. A cable malfunction signal is a heavy stroke of the gas pedal. This means the throttle control cable may soon break. Also, care must be taken with the new throttle control cable during installation.
Throttle cable replacement
1. Disconnect the throttle control cable by pulling aside the safety clip on the gas pedal
2. Disconnect branch pipes and remove the air filter.
3. Squeeze out the clamps of the gas cable support and remove its casing, or to do this, unscrew the lock nut in the throttle valve support.
4. Disconnect the throttle cable from the throttle shaft lever.
5. If necessary, unhook the return spring.
6. Remove the guide nozzle on the front wall of the engine compartment and pull the gas cable out of the engine compartment towards you through the front wall.
7. When installing, make sure that the casing of the throttle cable is not damaged.
Installing the throttle cable
1. Ask an assistant to press the gas pedal to the floor.
2. Remove the cable housing clamp from the support and loosen the locknut accordingly.
3. Pull back the throttle cable cover until the throttle is in the maximum fuel position.
4. Slide the clamp in the support onto the throttle cable housing and tighten the locknut accordingly.
5. Release the gas pedal and press it again.
6. Check if the throttle shaft lever reaches the maximum fuel position limiter directly, adjust if necessary.
After installing a new throttle cable, the end of the trim (3) throttle control cable (4), which has a groove or thread, respectively (3) when fully depressed the fuel control pedal, should be so out of the support (1) outward to allow the throttle shaft lever to reach the maximum fuel delivery position. Push-on clamps (2) or, respectively, a nut with a lock nut (2) secures the throttle control cable.
