Note. The following procedures only apply to models with the F8Q engine. On models with the F9Q engine, the position of the gas pedal is determined by a sensor that sends a corresponding signal to the control system - the gas pedal cable is not used on these models.
Removing
1. Working in an impellent compartment, press the gas lever on the fuel pump and disconnect a cable from it. On models with a pressed-in ferrule, slide the end of the cable out of the lever (refer to accompanying illustration).
2a. Remove the tip.
2b. Remove the bezel of the cable housing from the O-ring in the fuel pump bracket.
2c. Note that on models with a ball end, the ball must be pressed out of the rubber end of the cable to allow the cable to pass through the pump bracket (refer to illustrations).
3. Working in salon, remove the bottom panel of furnish from under a steering column. Disconnect the cable from the gas pedal by squeezing the protrusions of the tip.
4. Return to the engine compartment, release the cable cover in the bulkhead and remove the cable.
Installation and adjustment
1. Install in reverse order, making sure the cable is routed as noted before removal, and finally check the cable length adjustment as follows.
2. Have an assistant press the gas pedal all the way down, then make sure the gas lever on the fuel pump touches the maximum engine speed adjustment screw. If adjustment is needed, remove the spring clip from the adjustment bezel, move the bezel to the desired side, and then insert the clip into the next free groove on the bezel.
3. Ask an assistant to fully release the gas pedal and check that the throttle lever touches the deceleration speed adjustment screw.
