Removing the starter
1. Place the vehicle on a two post lift.
2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
3. Remove the air resonator (see chapter "Intake and exhaust system").
4. Move the boot of the gear lever.
5. Loosen the bolt (1) fastenings of draft of a gear change.
Note: The shift rod is connected with a spacer. Be careful not to lose the spacer when loosening the bolt.
6. Disconnect the shift rod (2).
7. Loosen the nut (5) starter solenoid terminals.
8. Loosen the nut (6) starter terminals.
9. Loosen the bolts (7) starter mounts.
10. Remove the starter from under the car.
Starter installation
1. Check for the presence of the dowel pin in the cylinder block.
2. Install the starter from under the car.
3. Install the starter mounting bolts and tighten to 44 Nm.
4. Connect the starter terminals.
5. Tighten the starter terminal nut to 8 Nm and the starter solenoid terminal nut to 5 Nm.
6. Connect the gear shift rod and tighten the rod bolt to 28 Nm.
7. Install the gearshift boot.
8. Install the air resonator.
9. Connect the battery.
