The test described below can only be carried out on vehicles without ABS. If your car is equipped with an anti-lock braking system, then it is better to contact a service station.
It is desirable that the site be evenly covered with a thin layer of sand.
Car without load (in the cabin only the driver) accelerate in first gear to a speed of approximately 15 km/h. Depress the brake pedal sharply and do not release it until the vehicle has come to a complete stop.
Get out of the car and inspect the brake marks left by the car's wheels. If the brake tracks of the front wheels are slightly longer than the rear ones, and the length of the tracks on the left and right is the same, then the brake system is working. Otherwise, repair the system.
Note. The following ratios must be observed: L lev. per. = L right. per., L lion. rear = L right. rear, L lane > L rear
Attention! If a similar test of a vehicle equipped with ABS shows brake marks as clearly as a test of a vehicle without ABS, then the anti-lock brake system is faulty. In this case, immediately contact a car service for its repair.
Do not abuse this assessment, because it is associated with increased one-sided tire wear.
Note. If the vehicle pulls to the side or a strange noise is heard when braking, check the condition of the brake pads.
