The fuel filter is installed in a non-separable housing and is located in the engine compartment. The filter housing contains a control valve that limits the amount of diesel fuel supplied to the engine.
It is not possible to replace the filter element separately, so the filter is replaced as an assembly.
Removal
Caution: Take precautions due to the presence of diesel fuel under residual pressure in the fuel lines.
Disconnect the fuel lines from the filter:
- fuel supply to the engine (1, Fig. 4.51);
- fuel supply from the fuel tank (2);
- return fuel to the tank (3) through the valve;
- return fuel from the engine (4);
- return of fuel to the tank through the heat exchanger (5).

Remove the fuel filter.
Installation
Strictly follow the order of connecting the fuel lines to the filter, while not allowing the fuel hoses to be pinched or damaged. There is a tap on the fuel filter at the point where the diesel fuel return line is connected (R. fig 4 52). Its normal operating position is open.

For refilling the fuel system after disassembling it, replacing the fuel filter or in case of fuel supply failure (when it is fully developed) the following steps should be performed:
- close the tap (R);
- run the low pressure pump several times with the ignition on;
- start the engine;
- open the tap, and when the tap is open, the two colored marks align.
It is necessary to periodically drain the water from the fuel filter by unscrewing the drain plug (6).
