If the parking brake control cable is too tight, it becomes "tight" the main brake pedal and the operation of the automatic brake pad adjuster is blocked. Simply releasing tension on the cable will only temporarily fix the problem, a full adjustment must be made.
The same applies to the replacement of brake pads. parking brake cable or control lever.
1. Put the car on a lift.
2. Loosen the adjusting nut (1) until the cable tension is completely released. Loosen the cables on the equalizer.
3. Remove both rear wheels and brake drums.
4. Rotation of the gear segment (D) in both directions, check the operation of the automatic compensator.
Loosen the segment by 5-6 teeth.
5. Check the freedom of movement of the cable and the correct installation of the lever (IN) regarding the brake pads.
6. Gradually tighten the cable adjuster on the equalizer until the levers begin to move (IN) between the 1st and 2nd tooth of the parking brake lever travel. The brake should start working on the second tooth of the lever travel.
7. Tighten the adjustment assembly jam nut.
8. Install brake drums and wheels.
9. Press the brake pedal several times until you hear a click from the automatic compensator.
