The heater consists of a blower motor, air vents at the center and ends of the instrument panel, and air ducts leading to the front door windows, windshield, and front and rear footwells.
Knobs on the heater/ventilation control panel located on the dashboard deflect dampers, allowing the incoming air to be mixed into various parts of the system. The dampers are located in the air distributor housing.
Fresh air enters the system through the fresh air box grill located at the windshield. If required, the drawn-in airflow is amplified by the blower. Exhaust air is discharged from the passenger compartment through special channels at the rear of the vehicle. If heating is required, the air is passed through the heater heat exchanger.
Some models are equipped with a handle that includes the air recirculation mode. In this mode, the supply of external air to the passenger compartment is stopped. This allows, if necessary, to prevent the penetration of unpleasant odors and exhaust gases into the cabin (e.g. in heavy traffic).
