Since cooling systems are designed to operate under pressure, beware of severe burns from escaping fluid.

Never remove the expansion tank cap while the engine is hot.

When working in the engine compartment, also beware of the radiator fan or fans suddenly starting.

Do not open the bleed plug or plugs while the engine is running.

Flushing and filling the system should be done on a warm or cold engine.

Never flush the cooling system if the engine is hot (to prevent severe heat stroke).
The cooling system of the engines of the currently produced model range of cars has the following main characteristics - a closed system under pressure (safety valve in the expansion tank cap).
Calibration values of the expansion tank plug valve:
  • with a yellow hand image - 1.4 bar;
  • with a white hand image - 1.6 bar;
  • with a gray hand image - 1.8 bar;
  • the system uses only type "O" coolant.
