The Renault Logan car belongs to the B-class. In Romania, it is produced under the name Dacia Logan. Currently, cars with a sedan body are being manufactured, and modifications with station wagon and van bodies are being developed on its basis.
Renault Logan was designed as an affordable family car, so components and assemblies of other brand models were actively used to reduce its cost. The front suspension of the MacPherson type car with lower wishbones is developed on the basis of the suspension of the Renault Clio II car, the rear is equipped with a semi-independent H-shaped transverse beam with trailing arms, like the Renault Modus. The whole heating system is also taken from the new Modus model. The electronic control unit is borrowed from Twingo, and the car received cooling system deflectors and a gear lever handle from Espace. But it was the Clio that gave Logan the most – engines, steering, rear brakes, instrument panel, door handles, steering wheel and paddle shifters.
Renault Logan cars are equipped with engines with a working volume of 1.4 and 1.6 liters, with a power of 55 kW (75 hp) and 64 kW (87 hp) respectively. Externally, the engines are identical and differ only in the crank radius of the crankshaft and the height of the cylinder block.
Body - sedan type, load-bearing, all-metal, welded construction, with hinged front fenders, doors, hood and trunk lid.
The transmission is made according to the front-wheel drive scheme, the front wheel drives are equipped with constant velocity joints of the type «tripod». The gearbox is five-speed manual. Gearboxes installed on cars with engines with a working volume of 1.4 and 1.6 liters are almost the same in design, have the same gear ratios and differ only in the size of the clutch housing, which is due to the use of clutches of different diameters on these engines.
The brake mechanisms of the front wheels are disc, with a floating caliper. The brakes of the rear wheels are drum, with automatic adjustment of the gaps between the brake shoes and drums. On request, cars can be equipped with an anti-lock braking system (ABS) brakes.
The steering is safety, with a gear-rack type steering mechanism, a hydraulic booster is installed on request. The steering column is not tilt adjustable. An airbag is installed in the steering wheel hub. On request, a similar airbag can also be installed for the front passenger.
Power windows of all doors can be equipped with electric drives on request.
