Instruments and electrical equipment
1. Check the operation of all appliances and electrical equipment.
2. Verify that all instrument readings are correct and that all electrical equipment is functioning properly.
Steering and suspension
1. Check for faults in the steering, suspension.
2. Drive the vehicle and check for any unusual vibrations or noises.
3. Check up that a steering was equal, a steering wheel turned without excessive effort.
Chassis
1. Check the operation of the engine, clutch (where applicable), gearboxes/transmissions and drive shafts.
2. Pay attention to any unusual noises during the operation of the engine, clutch and gearbox / transmission.
3. Make sure the engine runs smoothly when idling and there are no delays when accelerating.
4. Verify, where applicable, that the clutch operates smoothly, the drive is transmitted smoothly and the pedal free play does not exceed that specified in the Certifications. Pay attention to any noises made when you press the clutch pedal.
5. On models with a manual transmission, make sure all mechanisms operate smoothly and without noise.
6. On models with automatic transmission, make sure the gear changes are smooth, without increasing engine speed between shifts. Make sure that any shift mode can be set with the engine off. If you find any problems, contact a Renault workshop.
7. Listen for the presence of a metallic sound while driving the vehicle slowly in a circle with maximum steering angle. If a clicking noise is heard, this indicates wear in the driveshaft joint.
Brake system
1. Make sure that the vehicle does not pull to the side when braking and that the wheels do not lock up prematurely during hard braking.
2. Make sure there is no vibration in the steering when braking.
3. Make sure the handbrake is holding the vehicle on a slope.
4. Check up action of the hydraulic booster of brakes as follows. Stop the engine and depress the brake pedal four or five times to remove the vacuum. Depress the brake pedal and hold, then start the engine. After starting, the brake pedal should loosen, as a vacuum has appeared in the system. Let the engine run for at least two minutes and then turn it off. If you now press the brake pedal, you should hear a hiss from the servomotor. After pressing four or five times, hiss should not be heard, and the pedal should become much more elastic.
