1. Install the car on a viewing hole. Remove the engine crankcase guard.
2. Clean the area around the fill/level plug (2) on the front of the gearbox, then unscrew the plug (1) (refer to accompanying illustration).
3. The gear oil level should be up to the bottom edge of the plug hole (refer to accompanying illustration).
4. If necessary, top up the fluid level using the type of lubricant specified in the Specifications (refer to accompanying illustration).
5. Install fill/level plug and tighten securely.
6. Install motor protection. Note that a frequent need for topping up indicates a leak that is possible through the stuffing box.
