Every 58,000 km — Check the oil level in the manual transmission (Renault Clio 1)

1. Place the car on an inspection pit, overpass, or jack it up, but in any case, horizontally.

2. Unscrew the filler/inspection hole plug from the gearbox (see illustration).

3. The oil level should reach the bottom edge of the filler hole as shown (see illustration).

4. If necessary, bring the level up to the norm, then install and tighten the plug (see illustration).

5. If the transmission requires frequent refilling, check it for leaks, especially around the seals.

b. Lower the vehicle to the ground.
