Note: For clarity, the replacement of the gearbox control lever is shown with the gear shift linkage removed.
You will need: tools necessary for removing the exhaust system, floor tunnel lining, and a 13 mm wrench.
1. Disconnect the fasteners (see "Replacing elements of the exhaust system") and move the exhaust system to the side.
Note. The manufacturer recommends partially removing the exhaust system to remove the gearshift lever linkage. However, the system does not need to be disassembled or removed completely. It is enough to disconnect the intake pipe from the exhaust manifold, disconnect the suspension cushions of the system in the area of the exhaust neutralizer and move the system to the side.
2. Disconnect the gearbox control rod from the lower end of the gearbox control lever (see "Replacing the transmission control rod") and move the rod to the side.
3. In the car, unfasten the upper fastening of the lever cover...

4. ... remove the lower cover holder from the hole in the floor tunnel lining...
5. ...and remove the cover by sliding it up the lever.
6. Remove the floor tunnel lining (see "Removal and installation of floor tunnel lining") and a soundproofing cover installed under the cladding.
7. Unscrew the four nuts securing the gearshift linkage to the body base...
8. ...and, lowering the linkage down through the opening in the base of the body, remove it from the car.
9. To replace the gearbox control lever, remove the gearshift cover by turning it counterclockwise until the gearshift neck pins come out of the cover slots...
10. ...and remove the lever together with the support.
11. Install the lever into the gearshift lever and the gearshift lever onto the vehicle, as well as all removed parts, in the reverse order of removal.
