Lubrication system diagram (cross section)
The engine lubrication system is forced under pressure. The gear type oil pump is located at the bottom of the crankcase and is driven by a chain from the crankshaft sprocket. The full flow oil filter is screwed into the cylinder block.
The oil pump takes oil from the engine sump through the oil receiver and delivers it through the filter through the channels to the parts of the connecting rod and piston group, the crankshaft and the parts of the cylinder head.
The oil pressure is controlled by a pressure reducing valve located in the oil pump.
Oil pressure in the system:
- 1.0 bar at idle;
- 3.5 bar at 3000 min–1.
