Removing
- disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery;
- raise the front of the car and install safety supports under the body;
- remove the right front wheel and mudguard (mudguard);
- remove the accessory drive belt. Remove the belt with a hex wrench (1). which serves to block the tension roller after it has been moved;
- pinch the inlet hose with a clamp, placing it as close as possible to the pump to reduce leakage of the working fluid; (Prepare to clean up spilled liquid);
Attention! A generator is installed under the power steering pump. Do not allow working fluid to come into contact with the generator
Figure 6.22. Disconnecting the supply hose (A) and pipeline (IN) from the power steering pump
- loosen the clamp on the hose and disconnect the hose from the back of the pump (Figure 6.22);
- loosen the connection fitting and remove the high pressure pipeline from the pump, take measures to prevent the working fluid from entering the generator;
- disconnect the pressure sensor connector in the power steering system;
- unscrew the three bolts securing the pump pulley;
- disconnect the pipeline from the fuel distribution rail;
- unscrew the three bolts securing the pump to the bracket...
- ...and remove the pump.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Pay attention to the following:
- replace the sealing ring of the high-pressure pipe fitting with a new one;
- install a new worm clamp on the inlet hose;
- add working fluid to the reserve tank and, while the engine is running, bleed air from the power steering system by turning the steering wheel from one extreme position to another. If necessary, add working fluid to the reserve tank.
