Noise source identification
Drive the rack against the pinion shaft side and check the backlash by rocking the pinion shaft up and down. When the gap is felt, the noise is generated by the pinion gear.

On the bottom of the steering box, use a 10mm Allen key to unlock the adjusting nut (Figure 6.29), by unbending the spiky collars of the adjusting nut. Tighten the nut no more than one tooth (one notch) and make sure that the rack can be easily moved throughout its entire course. Tighten the nut at the points indicated in the figure (those. from opposite sides).
